Sara.  The colors of what you describe are a match with this sherd. 
Unfortunately, the sherd is small (actually a refit of two small pieces) so
that the barn, people, etc. do not appear.  If is does carry the early date
that the Dr. Syntax series suggests then it looks like it represents a
long-term curated item that found its way into the deposit some 30 years later.
