Site preservation using geofabric that can breathe and allow moisture to
penetrate, yet prefevents roots and rodent impacts has proven a successful site
preservation technique here in California. We typically have six inches of
clean gravel installed over the geofabric to mark it in case some clown
accidentially trenches through the protected area. Then another 24-inches of topsoil
and a shallow rooted drought resistant ground cover over that.
