I received a very disturbing message this morning. The Governor of New Jersey is considering a proposal to close all State Parks in the state, including Monmouth Battlefield and numerous other historic sites.
I just called the number below and the Governor’s secretary confirmed it. If you can, please take a moment to let them know this is a foolish idea. While state residents are responding, out of state opinion will also attract attention. The most innovative research on Revolutionary War battlefields in the country were conducted on these state parks and they include many beautiful locations in the state.

forwarded message:
The Governor's office is conducting a poll as to whether the State Parks should
be closed -call… 609 292 6000
Thanks. Please take a moment to call and tell them to cut some other budget item -- not our state parks.
This is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!!! I just called. A secretary for the governor's office
answered and I asked about the survey. She confirmed it. They just want to know 'Yes' or 'no' if you want to close the state parks. They are keeping a tally of the calls so you don't have to give your name.
It took 2 seconds, so please call. Closing the state parks would be an awful mistake.
Please pass along.
