Congratulations to the organizers of the 41st SHA Annual Conference
in Albuquerque, New Mexico. These meetings were probably the largest
we have ever had in the West with over 1,000 attending. Howard
Higgins, the Conference Chair, David Phillips (Local
Arrangements),Terry Klein (Program Chair) and the many other
organizers are all to be praised for a very well organized and
interesting conference. The themes and papers were all excellent (the
ones I attended). The Hyatt Regency was a fine venue with good rooms
for sessions and all other functions. Its location near Old Route 66
(Central Avenue) was good for small cafes and a great collection of
Art Deco buildings. All special events went off on time in good
setting. The Past Presidents' Lunch was wonderful if a bit dangerous
- it was held in a restaurant-pool hall on Route 66, and knowing some
of our Past Presidents that was a risk. The tours (I took the ones to
Chaco Canyon and to Acoma Pueblo) had very good guides and the
weather was quite nice.

For all the meeting period it was sunny in Albuquerque and usually
not that cold. The organizers even arranged for a movie to be shot
outside our hotel ("The Game") and although I got yelled at for
taking pictures, that was a nice touch.

SHA 2008 = a complete success.
