I had heard a long time ago that Woods Hole Oceanographic was hired at one point to conduct a geological survey of the Island.  However, the information was proprietary and not publicly released.  Of course, this is also acording to a very much unsubstantiated website on the internet.  
   
  I too, would be interested in learning if anyone has heard anything more on the subject.
