This may kill the bacteria but the scale will remain. This means that at a
visual inspection at a later date the comb will appear to have AFB and you will
be unable to say whether the scales are old irradiated ones or fresh and
active ones. The bees will have less use of those combs also as they tend not
to use cells with AFB scales.
Fire is cheap, safe and certain.
