Hi All --
Just wanted to second Geoff's mention of CyArk. We've established a
partnership with CyArk here at the Presidio of San Francisco. They've
worked with us to scan the last standing adobe building from El
Presidio, for both documentation and conservation purposes. We've also
scanned two large areas of the Presidio, the Main Post/El Presidio area
and Fort Winfield Scott, with a large team that included the Presidio
Trust, CyArk, UC Berkeley and Silicon Valley Land Survey. Most recently,
Ruth Tringham taught a course here this summer about using digital
documentation, including 3D laser scans, in site management planning.
Some course info is at

n-and-representation-in-archaeology/syllabus-anthro136e-su07/
It's neat technology, and we're pretty excited to be their Bay Area
neighbors! We'll hopefully have more info online about the scans done
here at the Presidio in the next few months, including results from the
UC Berkeley class.
aloha
