The SHA is pleased to announce the publication of the latest volume
in its Perspectives Series - "The Archaeology of Native American-
European Culture Contact," compiled by Timothy K. Pertulla. This
volume contains an Introduction by Tim Pertulla on current research
on Native American-European contact and exchange and nineteen
articles from Historical Archaeology that examine interaction and its
effects in a variety of settings throughout the US. This reader can
be purchased from the SHA Print On Demand Bookstore (http://
stores.lulu.com/shabookstore) at a cost of $25 for paper bound print
copy or $10 for digital download.
This is the third edition in the Perspectives series, which also
includes volumes on the "Archaeology of the African Diaspora" by
Chris Fennell and the "Archaeology of Plantation Life" by Nick
Honerkamp; the series' intent is to compile and provide subject
matter and regional studies from Historical Archaeology for use in
classrooms, by scholars in other fields, as well as by specialists.
The SHA POD Bookstore also offers both of the SHA Material Culture
readers, a reprint of the East Liverpool Ceramic Marks volume, and a
special publication edited by Bill Kelso on the "Archaeology of Early
Colonial Settlement in the Emerging Atlantic World" that looks at the
historical archaeology of colonial expansion around and across the
Atlantic. Additional Perspectives volumes and special publications
are in progress, so please visit and bookmark the SHA's on-line press.
