The challenge we propose is to bring to bear the knowledge and expertise of
the VAST network of researchers and professionals that will lead to
sustainable practices of stewardship for the long term, for tangible,
intangible and virtual heritage alike. 

                              ********

Dear Colleague,

The VAST2008 Program Committee is seeking contributions that advance the
state of the art in the technologies available to support sustainability of
human heritage.
We wish to update you on the following topics regarding the up-coming
Symposium and EUROGRAPHICS Workshop, in Braga-Portugal, 2-5 December 2008:

 1. Two deadlines were extended: to submit abstracts (to 14 July) and full
papers (to 28 July). 
 2. The RSS system has been installed and will be ready for use when you
receive this message.
 3. The International Scientific Committee list of the conference is already
on the website.
 4. The Portuguese UNESCO Authority is supporting VAST2008. 
 5. Updated website information on the Rock Art at the Coa Valley (UNESCO
World Heritage site). 

A PDF file is attached with the relevant information on the event (if the
mailing list allows it).

details. 
If you browse this website, you will notice that:

  -  it is being updated daily, currently with details on the event venue:
the roman town, the baroc town, places of the social events;
  -  a field trip/excursion to Coa Valley (250km from Braga) is planned
after the Symposium; more details soon;
  -  special terms are being negociated for accommodation; more details
soon.

We are pleased to announce keynote speakers Roberto Scopigno, Ruth Tringham
and Alan Chalmers leaders in computer technologies and archaeology. Please

Submission system online
Through cooperation with Eurographics, the 2008 submission system is online
and OPEN. Please submit your abstracts as soon as possible to help us shape
the scientific program. (http://www.vast2008.org/psub.php).

Scientific Committee
The VAST 2008 International Scientific Committee is comprised of a
diversified, international group of specialists, researchers and leaders.

Registration fees
We have a reduced fee ("Early Registration"), and a special "All-in-One"
pass, besides the usual promotions for Eurographics and EPOCH members. See
