While doing some analysis on material from a 1940's doctor's surgery here in NZ, I came across a number of ampules fortunately with some writing still visible. The ampules were rounded at one end, so somewhat different from your example.  All the examples had the upper 'pointy' portion snapped off, some were able to be refitted. Research indicated that my examples were Jectofer, an iron supplement to be injected into patients - a common practice during this period. Perhaps you have a slightly earlier ampule type along these lines?
