I would try the Kern County Museum in Bakersfield, CA or the West Kern Oil 
Museum in Taft, CA..  Between the two of them they have restored cable tool 
rigs, and other restored oil field equipment.  I think they used a lot of 
retired oil field guys who worked on them when they were still in use.  If 
my memory serves me, there is also a pretty good museum in Kilgore, TX with 
some nicely restored rigs.
