Hi, All,

I've been reading this thread with fascination. Many good points 
raised - but I need to jump in to add that in addition to UCB and 
CSU-Humboldt, there are thriving historical archaeology programs at 
Stanford, Sonoma State, UC Santa Cruz, CSU-Monterey Bay, and 
certainly many other California universities! Historical archaeology 
is alive and thriving here,
