I’m trying a similar thing with the top 10 Industrial Heritage sites in
Sydney/NSW primarily to generate interest about industrial heritage (nee
archaeology), to educate about the criteria used to assess heritage and to
get information out into the world about these sites to ensure their
appropriate management/protection. I am canvassing among my peers but am
working with the National Trust on ideas for a broader campaign possibly
exploring the use of Web 2.0 tools to generate participation.

I hadn’t thought of a beauty pageant though, I can just imagine Ms/Mr Hammer
Head Crane; “My parents come from Scotland but I was fabricated in
Australia. My life goal is world peace and lifting 250 ton bits of metal”.

yours
