Bergman used the sarabande from the suite in D minor in Through the Glass
Darkly. I know a few people who were turned on to the cello suites from
that movie. Godard used the Dvorak cello concerto to great effect in his
account of the Virgin Mary. What else is there? Barber's Adagio for
Strings in Platoon. Beethoven's 9th in The Man Facing Southeast. Fur
Elise in Rosemary's Baby. The Funeral March from the Chopin 2 is used
quite a bit in film, notably by Francesco Rossi. Satie's Gymnopedies are
used a fair bit in porn films. Both Shost and Prokofiev wrote music for
the (silent) films of Eisenstein. The recently deceased Kubrick used to
use cm a lot. His use of Ligeti in 2001 turned me on to that composer.
Disney too. Fantasia, Night on Bald Mountain etc. That's about all I
can think of right now.

Sam
