  The Maryland Historical Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and energetic museum educator to work at the Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum, a state museum of archaeology and history located in Calvert County, Maryland.  The Administrator of Education will work under the supervision of the Museum Director to develop, market, implement and evaluate on-site educational programs and educational outreach and distance learning programs associated with the museum’s collections, exhibits, or other topics relevant to the archeology and environmental history of Point Farm and the Chesapeake Bay region.  This position oversees operation of the Visitor Center museum, marketing of public programs, and rental of the Park pavilion and participates in long range planning for the museum.  Duties include recruitment, training, and supervision of education program and visitor services staff, budget preparation, and fundraising in support of the Museum’s educational and visitors services
 programs.  
   
  Bachelor’s degree in education, museum education, history or related field required.  Master’s degree in anthropology, history, museum studies, education or related field strongly preferred.  At least two years experience in classroom teaching and/or conducting public history and educational school programs with direct experience creating and developing such programs also required.  Candidate must have experience in staff and budget management; excellent organizational, interpersonal, public speaking and writing skills; knowledge of learning styles, developmentally appropriate educational practices and state education standards; experience working with school-age and adult audiences; experience creating programs that connect history with communities; and a strong interest in working collaboratively.  Knowledge of computer-based word processing, spreadsheet and databases desirable.
