Yes, a device with which one measures to assure that the item that they are
hanging or installing is straight/level. Ihe small liquid filled ampule has a
bubble left in it, and if the bubble is in the middle, the item has been
installed/hung correctly or 'level'. The wood or metal holding the fluid filled
ampule seems to be missing. Mind you, this only an educated guess. I was a
construction engineer.
