NSDL/NSTA Web Seminar Series: January 29th. Registration is free for
all educators:
Earth in Reverse: Magnetic Wiggles on the Ocean Floor
<http://learningcenter.nsta.org/products/symposia_seminars/NSDL2/webseminar7.aspx>
NSDL once again features Dr. Chris Symons, researcher at the Scripps
Institute of Oceanography and Dr. Anthony Koppers, Associate Professor
of Marine Geology and Geophysics at Oregon State University in the next
web seminar in the NSDL series.
What causes reversals in the Earth's magnetic field? How does the
magnetic field help scientists map out the age of the ocean seafloor as
well as the rate of movement in tectonic plates? Why are anomalies in
magnetic patterns (known as wiggles) important clues to the ancient
geological past?
In this compelling seminar for educators of grades 6-12, our presenters
will share their experiences studying these phenomena and showcase
resources from Enduring Resources for Earth Science Education
<http://earthref.org/ERESE/> (ERESE). Register today
