Through the support of National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and
the National Marine Sanctuaries Program, a program on stewardship of our
maritime heritage is being developed into a replicable set of
educational modules. We welcome the input of Hawaii’s Teachers. To
accomplish this, The PAST Foundation in collaboration with NFWF and the
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Sanctuaries Program
(NOAA) are offering a daylong teacher workshop on the Maritime Heritage
in the Pacific Islands.
The workshop program includes the 2005 documentary short created by NOAA
about our nation’s newest Monument Preserve, several agency
professionals to answer questions and share information, and an
interactive program where teachers jump in and help concept engaging
lesson modules.
The workshop has enrollment capacity of 25 teachers from across Hawaii’s
Schools. Each participating teacher will receive a $100 Honorarium plus
the information and materials presented in the workshop and a copy of
the final edit podcasts and accompanying lesson plans. Teachers will be
accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis.
