Greetings!

The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences invites you to join us as
partner for national "Take A Child Outside" week, September 24-30,
2007. This effort was inspired by Richard Louv's book, _Last Child in
the Woods_. During this week people are invited to make a pledge to
take a child outside to experience the natural world. After the outing,
they can come back and post a description and photo of their adventure
and place a dot on the interactive map. Everyone will be able to see
what is going on across the nation!

Additionally, people can search the partners map, and find places to go,
or other organizations that support the idea of getting children
outside. Current partners include representatives from more than 15
states as well as 2 foreign countries - a sample list includes: the San
Diego Natural History Museum, the Sandia Mountain Natural History
Center, The Santa Barbara Museum of Natural History, The National Park
Foundation, the Adirondack Ecological Center of SUNY, and Audubon. You
can check out the website at www.takeachildoutside.org. We hope that you
will consider joining us too.

In order to become a partner, please contact Liz Baird, Director of
School Programs, at [log in to unmask] <mailto:[log in to unmask]>.
She will send you a simple electronic registration form to complete.
Once you have registered, you'll be able to add your location on our
searchable map. You can also enter more information about what you have
to offer. We also have rack cards available for distribution and would
be happy to mail them too you if you wish.

We hope you will consider joining us!
liz
