Hi Alissa,
Years ago COSI had a workshop called Escargot. We found that East Coast
land snails were the preferred type to send home with the kids. I
honestly can't remember why, but it probably had to do with survival
rate and hardness of shells. We purchased them from Connecticut Valley
Biological.

(if you've already read this on Child-Mus, read no further. Unless you
have good advice for me. In which case, read on!)
I know snails are a big hit with kids...they're cool to look at,
especially
from underneath. So I'm thinking of keeping some. I've been doing a lot
of
poking around, but there's not a whole lot of solid info, at least
where
I've been looking But I'm not sure what speicies are easiest to care
for,
won't reproduce like mad and are just generally successful.
any advice greatly appreciated,
AD

The most exciting phrase to hear in science, the one that heralds new
discoveries, is not "Eureka!" (I found it!) but "That's funny..."
