Lou Teicher, of Ferrante & Teicher, Popular Piano Duo of
'60s, Dies at 83
By BRUCE WEBER
Mr. Teicher's florid and sentimental versions of movie
themes and love songs made the duo gods of easy listening
and earned them wide popularity.
One might wonder why post the passing of Lou Teicher on the Classical
List. Early in their careers Ferrante and Teicher made several discs
of classical music, including the Rachmaninoff Suites for two pianos.
Also, I have a soft spot in me for their recordings...I think I have
most of them! Many of their early discs featured some highly imaginative
use of overdubbing and prepared piano (mutes, etc.) techniques.
