Hi:

We've used both overhead projectors and video projectors for different
reasons. I want to chime in on the money issue: there's upfront
equipment cost and daily costs....

Nice overhead projectors are only about $250. They use halogen bulbs
and thus are warm; they only last about 75 hours so we have them on a
timer (but rewired the projector so its cooling fan stays on whenever
there is power to the exhibit). The one I'm using in an exhibit (on
Photolithography) has space for two bulbs so you can slide a lever to
the other bulb when the first one goes out. The replacement bulbs from
the office supply place are about $35 each, but I found them online for
$4 each so they're 5 cents/hour. WE have it buried inside a cabinet so
kids don't have access to the actual projector.

Video projectors, which were also suggested, can run as low as $500-
plain projectors and bulbs have come way down in price in the past two
years or so. But the bulbs, rated for 2,000 hours typically, also cost
$200 or more.. so thats 10cents/hour.
