In planning a visit to the Philadelphia Museum of Art, I found out that they
have several tours that can be downloaded prior to a visit:

I don't think you can download the podcasts from that website, but they are
available on iTunes.
I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but perhaps the folks at
the Art Museum might have some insights about the process.

We are in the process of developing one. It is campus-wide, and
visitors can mine for historic details as they pass particular
(physical) sites.
