Chinese Pianist Ren Zhang would be appearing at the Newport Music
Festival, www.newportmusic.org, for the opening piano recital on
July 6, 2007. Here is a copy of the program for your reference.
A graduate of Shanghai Music Conservatory and Manhattan School of
Music, Ren Zhang has appeared either as a recitalist or soloist at many
international piano series, and has won many prestigious awards both
from China and the US, including the Gold Medal of the National Young
Pianist Competition in China.
The International Piano Magazine has published a rave review on Ren
Zhang's live recordings, praising his "Horowitz-style" performances,
by Julian Haylock. David Dubal, Julliard School piano professor, had
compared Ren Zhang's "Cantabile" by Chopin with that of Vladimir Ashkenazy,
in his weekly program, "Reflections from the Keyboard" on WQXR, the
Classical Radio Station of the New York Times.
