There's a decent selection of good versions available. On Chandos, both
symphonies are on a 2-cd mid-price set conducted by Vassili Sinaisky.
On Hyperion, there is a 2-cd set of the symphonies conducted by Yevgeny
Svetlanov. Then there is Svetlanov again conducting both symphonies on
two separate discs from Moscow Studio Archives - these are older recordings
made in the 1970's. Older or not, I prefer them because of their greater
strength and raw quality. Lastly, Naxos has recorded both symphonies;
not bad, but Svetlanov is the superior conductor.
