Wow! I couldn't have said it better myself, so I sure am glad that Pam did!
The hospital where I do viisits to WIC clients in my IBCLC capacity has about
a 75% induction rate and probably 60% C-section rate. I've been there 3
years and trying to make waves slowly. There are no IBCLC's on staff. The
most exciting accomplishment I've seen was just a few weeks ago, when,
without my even asking for it, one of the nursery nurses wheeled the
phototherapy unit into the patient's room as I was talking to mom. The nurse
told mom they decided to move it to mom's room so she could continue with
breastfeeding easier. I had to restrain myself from jumping up and down and
screaming "Hallelujah". Baby steps, wherever I can get them!
