ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

A 9-day ASTC Dimensions Forum -- "Eyes on the Skies: Reconnecting Audiences
with Astronomy" -- starts October 4 in ASTC Connect. Sign on now and
register your preference for a time for a live chat.

I've been asked to explain how an ASTC Connect forum works. First open a
user account in ASTC Connect (just go to astc.org/astc_connect and look at
the left side of the page). To join what this software (unfortunately!)
calls a "course" -- in this case the ASTC Dimensions Forum -- you need to
enter a word ("enrolment key"), or write to me and I can give you access.

Once in the ASTC Dimensions Forum, you'll find some articles from ASTC
Dimensions posted (also a poll where you vote for a live chat time).
Discussions there span about a week and a half. These run mostly via email.
Moderators kick off discussion and share what they know. Discussion threads
start with postings within the forum area (ie on the web) but then everyone
subscribed gets messages via email. (You can choose not to receive them via
email if you want, but just visit the website.)

The live chat includes a video feature, easily accessible via the web. Folks
from the Astronomical Society of the Pacific will be demonstrating and
talking about a hands-on astronomy activity late next week. The following
week, we'll have a chat with an astronomer from NOAO.

Any questions, let me know. During last month's ASTC Dimensions discussion,
we had 40 people in the forum at one point and some very lively exchanges.
Hope you can join in!

Wendy
