ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.
*****************************************************************************

Pittsburgh's original Buhl Planetarium and Institute
of Popular Science [a.k.a. Buhl Science Center]
operated a 40,000 square-foot building with 15,000
square feet of exhibit space in five galleries, along
with a 425-seat planetarium, 250-seat lecture hall,
public observatory, 800-volume science library and
[beginning in June of 1983] 20-computer Computer
Learning Lab, from 1939-1991. As a smaller facility,
it also had a more streamlined organizational
structure which worked well as Pittsburgh's primary
science and technology museum for more than 50 years.
Here is the organizational structure of the
institution, dated 1983 February 28:
