Just to play the devil's advocate, without having read the
standards.......
Is there any danger to setting standards? One of the things that has
always attracted me to this field is that it hasn't become moribund
through codification. I think Jung once made a comment to the
effect, and I'm paraphrasing, that "once a religion quits growing, it
is dead." So, is there any concern once you codify and certify
museum educators? Just a thought...
The parallel I would draw is with trying to set standards for a good
exhibit.....its apparent from this list-serv there's a wide range of
feeling on this subject.....
I guess my question is, from a philisophical standpoint, how do you
establish 'standards' wtihout becoming rigid. (See: U.S.
Constitution).
