On lab coats:
Frankly, I never understood why anyone at any time thought wearing a
lab coat was a good idea. The sleeves get in the way, the thing is
just too loose and makes it much more likely that I'm going to spill
something (like with a sleeve). And why would I want to have an
extra layer of soaked-through clothing to need to remove in case I
really do spill something serious? (I'm a chemist.)
If ANYthing, I need a waterproof rubber APRON as protective gear.
The things should not just be banned from the media's perception of
us scientists, they should be banned, period!
