Peter Anderson asked if there are any good measurements about how long
someone will stand in line. In his keynote at the 1999 Visitor Studies
Association conference, Paco Underhill, author of Why We By: The Science of
Shopping, stated that his research showed that after 2-1/2 minutes in line,
perception of time distorts to seem much, much longer than the actual time
in line.
If you want to check it out, you can search for keywords "waiting in line"
