I think someone on the HISTARCH web site posted a picture of an item
>with two parts showing asking for identification. To that person, my
>apologies for being so tardy in replying. I knew I had seen an item
>similar to the one shown but could not remember where. (Old Age!!!)
>
>The top piece resembles the Japanese National flower BUT not knowing
>the size I questioned my thinking. I then noticed the U.S. ID on
>the bottom picture along with a small tip. Looking again at the top
>picture I noticed a small hole in the center of the device.
>
>I am of the opinion that this is a clothing rivet used on Military
>equipment to bond two pieces of material (leather, webbing ?)
>together. I have several on my Campaign Hat chin strap. I also found
>a similar item on the strap of a binocular case. Size is the unknown
>in this case. The size I found was a little over 1/4 in (Guesstimation)
>
>Please understand this is not a firm ID but just a suggestion to chew on.
