Hello All~

I am looking for information on Taverns/ Inns/ Ordinaries dating to 1670 -- 1730 in the Chesapeake region (North Carolina to SE Pennsylvania).? What sort of material culture helped you identify the site as a Tavern?? Where was the site located--urban, rural, on a trade/ travel route? What sort of documents did you have to support?? Did you notice a social stratification at the tavern, ie. were higher wealth classes dinning with lower wealth classes in the same building?

Any information on these establishments would be appreciated.

Thanks for your time,
Lisa
