Iain- Well we must be sad, friendless and with few hobbies. Actually I
am sure none of these are true though I am a glass half full person as
my misses often reminds me. Personally i got hooked on post-medieval
archaeology digging as a schoolboy and joined SPMA as a 17 year old in
1972. .Met my first historical archaeologists Karlis Karklins and a
colleague at the 1972 SPMA connference in York but took me until the mid
1980s to join SHA . I occasionally threaten to give up
post-medieval/historical archaeology and find a nice French monastic
estate cartularly to study into my dotage but i expect the Grim Reaper
will find me giving someone a hard time on Histarch.
