ISEN-ASTC-L is a service of the Association of Science-Technology Centers
Incorporated, a worldwide network of science museums and related institutions.

Here at Lawrence Hall of Science out in Berkeley, we're coming to the
close of an exhibit development project that has produced a
kiosk-controlled system for visitors to use a telescope in Perth,
Australia to get images of the real night-time sky there, while it's
daytime here. We're making plans for connection to remote
telescopes elsewhere as well. The exhibit also has an in-house
robotic telescope that visitors can use to look at a simulated sky on
the exhibit hall wall. We're planning on making the system available
to other museums and institutions. Cost would be probably of the
order of several thousand dollars for bare-bones kiosk connection to
the remote telescope. To include an in-house robotic telescope to
the exhibit might cost another few thousand dollars.
Question: Would your institution be interested in getting plans and
software for building such an exhibit? If so, please send me a
message offline and let me know a little bit about your situation and
what might work for you.
