Part-time contractual position with Maryland State Government
The Jefferson Patterson Park and Museum (JPPM) seeks qualified applicants for the half-time position of Maryland Archaeological Conservation (MAC) Laboratory Educator. The Educator will be responsible for developing, promoting, and giving public tours of the MAC Lab. The tours will be offered to visiting adults, and to school groups in coordination with the JPPM Education Program. The Educator will also assist MAC Lab staff in various archaeological activities, such as the Public Archaeology Program, artifact processing and conservation, and collections management. The Educator may also help develop and implement other educational programs involving the MAC Lab. The successful applicant must have excellent communication skills, and the ability to work with adults and children. BA in history, anthropology, archaeology or related field desired. Two years experience in archaeological fieldwork and artifact conservation may be substituted for education. Position
starts on or about May 2, 2007 and lasts approximately 12 months, with extension for another 12 months very likely. Some weekend work may be required.
