Just for historical perspective–and a transition back to the early
days of video. In 1974, the Rockefeller Foundation funded a video
project at the de Young Museum in SF that happened at the
Exploratorium. Young visitors––primarily, because the adults were
technology shy––made videos designed to explain how a particular
exhibit worked and capture the phenomena, and were then tested to
see if they "learned" more via the video project experience. Not a
very controlled study––but one of the first applications of
technology and learning objectives. Some of the videos were
interesting and there was definitely improved learning for a tiny
subset of visitors. It's barely reference in the annual report:
http://www.rockfound.org/library/annual_reports/1970-1979/1974.pdf
on page 86. An Pacita Cruz conducted the project. Don't know
whatever happened to her. But it's an early video learning project,
conducted in a museum setting.
