On museum's podcasting . . .

One model we've been noodling around with in our exhibit team is offering
pod-cast "insiders tours" of outdoors environments in support of an indoor
exhibition. The segments would be extensions of print Family Field Trip
Guides. The idea is based on CD tours like the one of Chinatown's
underbelly. On the CD you listen to segments with walking directions,
background, soundscape, and a few provocative questions. Participants
customize their tours by selecting the chapters they want.

Pod-casts and Vod-casts are a resource that seem a natural way to extend and
enhance visitors experiences before or after the museum visit. For
non-visitors the question becomes what would compel them to download science
related pod-casts (given that they are not choosing to come to science
centers.)
