I've heard it said that inhaled allergens (tiny particles of dried venom, bee hairs) may be linked to the development of life-threatening allergies to bee stings - in beekeepers and even family members that don't handle bees. Don't know if its true.
Have the folk deliberately sniffing hive air considered this?
