Hello All,
In the Nov. 6th. issue of Time magazine on page 56 & 57 is an article about
the honeybee.

"The Buzz on Bees"

These kind of articles put our troubles and the plight of the honey bee in
front of the public and in the case of Time many politicians.

The articles text was done by two people ( Jeffery Kluger & Kristina Dell)
and quote as sources
Gene Robinson, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and Neil Tsutsui
University of California at Irving.

The article goes into detail about the honey bee genome.

I thought the article was good for the beekeeping industry but got a kick
out of the glaring mistake on page 56:

"Tracheal mites
First spotted in the U.S. in 1987 attack the respiratory system of adult
bees and can KILL AN ENTIRE HIVE IN A MATTER OF HOURS"

I CAN'T IMAGINE HOW THE TEXT WRITERS GOT THINGS SO WRONG BUT HOPEFULLY THE
ERROR WILL DRAW ADDED ATTENTION TO OUR BEEKEEPING PROBLEMS.

Sincerely,
Bob Harrison
