And another version of the story has Godowski replying "not for pianists".
The concert was Heifetz's US debut at Carnegie Hall in October 1917.
I am a little puzzled by the "somewhat older": Heifetz was born in 1899,
Kreisler (although you are correct, it was Mischa Elman) in 1875, Elman
in 1891 and Godowsky in 1870 - so Heifetz was younger than them all.
