>From an article about the Australian bass-baritone, Bruce Martin:
"Your average bass role goes like this," says opera singer Bruce
Martin, grinning. "This old guy comes home and finds his young
soprano wife in bed with a tenor. Before he has any chance to
expostulate, he is mortally wounded by the tenor and dies.
If he's lucky, he comes back as a ghost, "he continues, warming to
his topic. "If he's very unlucky, this happens at the end of the
opera and he can't get home to watch the football on TV. This is
the story of my life!"
