The University of West Florida Department of Anthropology is searching
for a Historical Archaeologist to fill a tenure-track position with an
interest in colonial Spanish and/or British studies starting in August
2007. Special aspects of our program and this position:

 

*	$1 million of new recurring program funding 
*	Anthropology-Archaeology is a "signature program" at UWF with
strong support by the administration as well as in the local community
and region
*	Strong support and interest Historical Archaeology at all levels
*	Public archaeology is one of our greatest strengths
*	Strong ties to History and regular joint research. 
*	Rapid program growth in all our units: the Department,
Archaeology Institute, and the state-wide Florida Public Archaeology
Network
*	We have approximately 80 undergraduate majors in Anthropology
and 40 Masters students, 70% of which are specializing in Archaeology,
primarily Historical Archaeology
*	Great graduate student support of over $110,000 each year and
new full-ride 3-year assistantships 
*	New partnerships are currently forming throughout the state in
archaeology and heritage resource management

 

Applicants must have a PhD in hand in Anthropology from a North American
university with a specialty in Historical Archaeology. Responsibilities
include a 3/3 load at the introductory, advanced and graduate levels and
regular summer field courses, advising undergraduates and graduates,
serving on graduate committees, and directing theses.

 

Applicants must have experience in major field excavations, working with
students, volunteers, and the general public. Applicants must also have
a proven track record in obtaining grants and contracts.  Research will
need to link to existing programs and include the local area. Our
Department values and practices working together and working with
others. Salary: $40,000 - $50,000. Full review of applications will
