Pianist and Reed Organist Artis Wodehouse Presents A Concert of New

Pianist, reed organist and music historian Artis Wodehouse will present
A Concert of New American Keyboard Music on Monday, April 24, 2006 - 8
PM at Merkin Concert Hall at the Kaufman Center, Goodman house, 129 W.
67th Street in Manhattan.

Selections for this landmark concert will be Toccatina Capricciosa (1823)
by Anthony Heinrich (NY Premiere), Ten Pieces for the American Harmonium
(1897) by Arthur Bird (second New York performance - to be performed on
an original 1918 Mason & Hamlin foot-pump organ), Quilt Music (1983) by
New York composer Beth Anderson and Four Duke Ellington Concert Paraphrases
and Transcriptions (NY Premieres).  Ms.  Wodehouse's program notes about

Ms.  Wodehouse has written the following about this event, 'My musical
scavenging over the past few years has turned up what I believe to be a
treasure-trove of American keyboard music, gems that have rarely if ever
been performed.  But a tree falling in a forest makes no sound unless
it is heard, and so I have planned a public recital in order to put this
music to the test of a live audience.'

specialist in historic sound recordings and a performer of new and
neglected music.  The New York Times has cited her as a "savior of the
