"No its not fluff. Research has been done by some bee scientist and I read
about it a few weeks ago. I can't remember who or which publication.
Summary is about 1 in 10,000 workers is an egg layer in pretty much any
hive, even yours. Bees who find these eggs decide to keep them or eat them based
on various pheremon levels."
This work has been carried out by Professor Francis Ratnieks and his
colleagues at Sheffield University, UK.
Dave Cushman is just about to tell us where we may view summaries of his
work on line.
