1) Who are you?

Hello all -- I'm Liz Clevenger, the Archaeological Collections
Specialist for the Presidio Trust in San Francisco. [The Trust is a
small federal agency responsible for managing a portion of the Golden
Gate National Recreation Area;
http://www.presidio.gov/history/archaeology/ for those interested.] I'm
an historical archaeologist; got my M.A. at Stanford ('04) specializing
in Overseas Chinese archaeology, and did brief stints in CRM during
school and before joining the gov't.

At the Presidio we focus largely on the Spanish colonial and Mexican
eras, with some U.S. Army era for good measure. I work primarily in our
lab, overseeing collections management, processing, and conservation, as
well as our educational and volunteer programs... but I still get to
play in the dirt periodically! :)

2) Dirtiest moment in the field.

I always seem to be dirty, be it in the field or lab. The dirtiest,
however, was a very, very, very wet and smelly privy...

3) Your idea of the best dressed archaeologist, i.e. what practical
gear should they be wearing?

Sunscreen and sweaters (at the same time!) are the best bet in San
Francisco!
