For our grand re-opening about 5 years ago we had a local ice sculptor do a sculpture of a human torso which had a plastic tube run through it from the top of the head (funnel in the mouth) to its belly button. We then had it set up at one of the drink stations in our Health Gallery and used it to serve a fruit drink by pouring the liquid through the straw and coming out at the navel (cold). It was one of the highlights of the evening.

You can also make soda using some 2 gallon ice cream pales putting in water flavouring, sugar and then forcing Carbon dioxide into the mixture by adding dry ice and putting the lid on it. You will need a number of lids since they will fly off. We have used this demo for more than 20 years on and off and it is definitely a favourite.

I have just been asked to create a program called the "science of hors d'oeuvres" as a part of a fundraising evening. Does anyone have any really great food related demonstrations. I am thinking that this will be a spoof of a cooking show but each demo should only last a few minutes.

Ideas I have already thought of:

1. Exploding a marshmallow for s'mores
2. Liquid Nitrogen ice cream
3. Mentos fountain
4. If I could ever get the exploding Jell-O pudding to work I would do that too!

Thanks in advance
