Fellow HistArchers:
April Beisaw and I have undertaken the exploration of a town site in Southern Maryland, Port Tobacco (ca. 1700-1895). Only a handful of buildings survive from the 18th and 19th centuries and the 50-acre townlands remain relatively undeveloped. (See www.gibbarchaeology.org [Discoveries pages] and our daily blog: http://porttobacco.blogspot.com.)
We are looking for other investigators of town sites, with the object of sharing questions, methods, etc. Please contact me off-list: [log in to unmask]
