I found this very interesting link to an article discussing the apparent
abandonment of the Dewey decimal cataloguing system at a library in Gilbert
Arizona. They are organising the collection using plain English (well plain
American English) subject headings.

This has created a predictable fuss but has implications for historical
archaeology in terms of how easy or difficult it will make research if
widely adopted.
