4 = the part of a gas cock called the "hose barb" - a rubber hose (from a
gas consuming appliance, like a small hot-plate burner, a bathroom heater
... or a bunsen burner) was pushed onto the barbed or ringed end - the other
end screwed into the body of the gas cock (valve)
6 = top of a small can
7 = needle for making/mending fishnets
8 & 9 = celluloid water-proofing liners; sewn inside a pouch, purse or
pocket; these were popular in some Army gear (for example, pouches for
keeping papers & maps dry)
10 = ferrule for fastening a tool head to a wooden handle (for example, a
garden rake)
14 & 15 = screw-on cap for a squeeze tube (e.g. tooth paste)
16 = a finial for a (probably gas style) lamp (though these carried over
onto the electric lamps, and you can still see them on the center/bottom of
many modern chandelier-type lighting fixtures)
17 = slide buckle (aka strap tensioner, as someone else already said)
